CJSL Game Change Policy

Official procedures and requirements for requesting changes to CJSL scheduled matches.

Game changes should be avoided whenever possible. Clubs are expected to honor originally scheduled matches whenever feasible.

Submitting a Request

All game change requests must be submitted using the official CJSL Game Change Request (GCR) Form.

  • Requests made via email, text message, or phone calls will not be accepted.
  • All required information must be provided when submitting the form.
  • Game Change Requests (GCR) will be rejected if any required details are missing.

Valid Reasons for Game Changes

  • State Cup conflicts
  • Changes to game date, time, or location
  • Weather-related field closures or unsafe playing conditions
  • Religious holidays
  • Permit or field issues (supporting documentation must be provided, such as an email from the Parks Department confirming the issue)

Unacceptable Reasons for Game Changes

  • Coaching conflicts (clubs should arrange another coach within their club to cover the match)
  • Player availability issues (teams may use players from other teams within their club when permitted)
  • Conflicts with games scheduled in other leagues

Required Procedure

  • Contact the opposing team and reach mutual agreement on the new date, time, and location.
  • Game changes require agreement from both clubs before submitting the request.
  • Once agreement is reached, submit the official Game Change Request (GCR) Form.
  • The originally scheduled match remains official until the request has been reviewed and approved by CJSL.
  • Incomplete submissions will not be processed.

Request Deadlines and Fees

  • Submitted at least 7 days before the scheduled match: No fee
  • Submitted within 7 days of the scheduled match: $100 fee plus full referee fees

All applicable fees will be billed through GotSport.

League Deadline for Completing Games

Important League Rule

All CJSL matches must be completed by the official league deadline (last day of play) for the season.

  • Any games not completed by the league deadline will be recorded as forfeits.
  • The full forfeit fine and referee fees will be assessed.
  • Teams that fail to complete their full schedule will not qualify for postseason competitions including the NY Champions Cup or other CJSL postseason events.
  • Teams that do not complete their schedule will not be eligible to receive postseason awards or medals.

Additional Notes

  • Games will not be rescheduled without mutual agreement between both teams and submission of the official Game Change Request Form.
  • Referees are typically assigned approximately two weeks in advance.
  • Cancellations without submitting a request may result in responsibility for referee fees and a $100 forfeit fine.
  • Please allow up to 48 hours for CJSL to review and process requests.
  • Clubs will receive an email confirmation once the request has been approved.
  • CJSL reserves the right to deny game change requests that do not meet league policy or scheduling constraints.
