Honoring the legacy of Emil Cohill by recognizing CJSL student-athletes who demonstrate commitment, discipline, leadership, and growth both on and off the field.

About the Emil Cohill CJSL Scholarship

Each year, four high school seniors are selected during the CJSL Annual General Meeting (AGM) in June to receive this prestigious scholarship.

Each recipient is awarded $1,000 per year, renewable for up to four years of college, for a total scholarship value of $4,000.

To continue receiving the scholarship each year, recipients must provide proof of enrollment or transcripts annually.

This scholarship is named in honor of Emil Cohill, whose impact on the game and the CJSL community continues to be reflected through the players we recognize each year.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a registered CJSL player for at least five (5) years
  • Must be a high school senior graduating in 2026
  • Must be planning to enroll in a college, university, or accredited post-secondary program
  • Must be in good standing with CJSL and their club
  • Must submit a completed application by June 1, 2026

Recipients - 4 Players
Award Amount - $1,000 Per Year
Renewal Period - Up to 4 Years
Total Value - $4,000
Renewal Requirement - Proof of Enrollment or Transcripts

Required Application Materials

  • Completed scholarship application form
  • High school transcript demonstrating academic commitment
  • Essay submission
  • Proof of future enrollment if requested

Essay Requirements

Essay Length: 500–750 words

Applicants must submit an essay explaining why they deserve the CJSL Scholarship and how their experience in the league has contributed to their personal and academic development.

Community Service & Leadership Requirement:
Describe your involvement in community service and/or leadership roles within your club, school, or community. Include specific examples of your role, responsibilities, the impact of your involvement, and what you learned from these experiences.

  • Leadership and discipline development

  • Your growth on and off the field

Applicants should provide specific examples, not general statements.
