CJSL Membership Standards

CJSL membership is intended for organized youth soccer clubs with established leadership, reliable administration and the ability to support teams throughout the seasonal year.

• Maintain a designated club president, director or primary administrator.
• Maintain a reliable CJSL league contact and accurate club information.
• Provide appropriate oversight of coaches, teams, players and club personnel.
• Operate in accordance with CJSL bylaws, policies and competition rules.
• Demonstrate the administrative ability to support league participation.

CJSL is a club-based youth soccer league

Active and consistent team participation is a fundamental requirement of CJSL membership.

• Member clubs are expected to maintain at least two participating CJSL teams.
• Clubs should consistently participate from season to season.
• A club with fewer than two teams may be placed under membership review.
• A club with no participating teams may be required to restore participation by the following season.
• Repeated failure to meet participation standards may result in removal from membership.

A club removed from membership may be required to submit a new application and complete the CJSL club approval process before returning.

Clubs must have dependable access to appropriate playing facilities and provide a safe environment for CJSL competition.

• Fields must be appropriate for the age group and game format.
• Field permits and availability should support the club's registered team count.
• Fields must be properly lined and prepared for match play.
• Goals must be appropriately sized and safely secured.
• Build-Out Line requirements must be followed where applicable.
• Clubs must comply with league and New York State safety requirements.
• An AED must be available where required and club personnel should know its location.

Clubs are responsible for ensuring that coaches, players and team personnel meet all applicable CJSL and governing-body registration requirements.

• Coaches and team personnel must be properly registered and rostered.
• Required background checks, SafeSport and risk-management requirements must be current.
• Players must be properly registered and eligible for their applicable team and competition.
• Team rosters must remain accurate and current.
• Clubs must comply with age-group, roster and player eligibility regulations.
• Clubs are responsible for correcting incomplete or inaccurate registrations.

Effective administration is necessary for CJSL to manage hundreds of teams, schedules and league operations each season.

• Team registrations must be completed by league deadlines.
• Required payments and administrative requirements must be submitted on time.
• Club and team contact information must remain accurate and current.
• Clubs must respond promptly to CJSL communications and league requests.
• Mandatory league meetings must be attended when required.
• Club representatives are responsible for communicating league information to their teams and coaches.

CJSL membership carries an expectation that clubs have the administrative capacity to meet league timelines without repeated individual extensions.

Member clubs must participate responsibly in scheduling and ensure their teams follow CJSL match-day procedures.

• Home clubs must enter required field and kickoff information by league deadlines.
• Clubs must communicate with opponents during designated self-scheduling periods.
• Once schedules are locked, changes must follow the CJSL Game Change Policy.
• Teams are expected to honor games appearing on the official league schedule.
• Teams must arrive prepared and on time with required player and coach credentials.
• Home clubs are responsible for ensuring the field is prepared and safe for play.
• Coaches are responsible for the conduct of their players and spectators.
• Referees must be treated professionally and respectfully at all times.

CJSL member clubs are responsible for promoting appropriate behavior, sportsmanship and respect throughout league competition.

• Referee abuse, harassment and intimidation will not be tolerated.
• Threatening, discriminatory or violent behavior is prohibited.
• Coaches must maintain appropriate control of their technical area and spectators.
• Clubs are responsible for addressing repeated behavioral issues involving their teams.
• CJSL disciplinary decisions, suspensions and sanctions must be respected and enforced.

Serious or repeated misconduct may affect the standing of an individual team, coach and/or the member club.

CJSL continues to grow each year and now serves more than 100 clubs throughout the New York City area. The following team and player fees cover league participation and registration requirements.

Player & Coach Registration Fees

• CJSL Travel Player Fee: $29 per player for the full seasonal year, including player carding and insurance, invoiced through GotSport.
• Recreational Player Fee: $10 per player for the full seasonal year, including player carding and insurance, invoiced through GotSport.
• Coach Carding Fee: No cost to register coaches.

CJSL membership is an ongoing responsibility. Admission into the league does not permanently guarantee continued membership.

Membership Review

CJSL reserves the right to review the participation and standing of any member club. A review may consider team participation, administrative compliance, outstanding financial obligations, disciplinary concerns, safety compliance and the club's overall adherence to CJSL standards.

CJSL may identify deficiencies and establish requirements that a club must satisfy in order to remain in good standing.

Reapplication Following Removal

A club removed from CJSL membership does not automatically retain its previous membership status. A club wishing to return may be required to submit a new membership application and complete the CJSL club review and approval process again.
