CJSL Clubs Excel at ENYYSA State Cup Finals, Three Crowned Champions
Brooklyn Italians Premier wins the Boys U16 of the ENYYSA Challenge Cup
The Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League (CJSL) congratulates all its clubs that reached the finals of the 2024 ENYYSA Open and Challenge Cup, held on Sunday, June 1, at the Blue Sky Sports Complex in Middletown, New York. It was a proud day for New York City youth soccer as Brooklyn City FC, SC Gjøa, Success Academy, Brooklyn Italians (with two teams), Soccer Kids NYC–the 2023 CJSL New Club of the Year and CJSL Legacy Clubs Eleftheria Pancyprian Soccer Club and BW Gottschee, all took the field to represent the league in one of the most competitive youth tournaments in the state.
The Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association State Cup is a cornerstone event of youth soccer in the region. Open to all levels of competition, the tournament brings together the top clubs from across Eastern New York, stretching from Montauk to the Canadian border. Operated by ENYYSA, which oversees ten leagues and thousands of youth players, the State Cup serves as a proving ground for young talent and a celebration of the game’s development across the state.
Three CJSL clubs were crowned champions. In the Open Cup, BW Gottschee Academy 2011 earned a hard-fought 1-0 win over White Plains Academy National 2011 and will go on to represent Eastern New York at the US Youth Soccer Eastern Regionals in Loudoun County, Virginia from June 28 to July 3. “It was a tough game and both teams played well,” said BW Gottschee coach Henry Morales. “Whoever scored the first goal was going to win.”
Soccer Kids NYC’s 2013 team delivered a strong performance in the U12 boys Challenge Cup final, defeating Beacon Beasts 5-2. In an all-CJSL U16 boys Challenge Cup final, Brooklyn Italians 2009 outlasted Eleftheria Pancyprian Soccer Club in a thrilling 4-3 match.
Paul Kontonis, President of the CJSL, applauded the performances of every club that reached the finals: “Every single one of these clubs has earned their place in the finals, and they represent the very best of youth development, community dedication, and competitive excellence in New York City. We’re proud of every player, coach, and family involved.”
The CJSL remains committed to providing a pathway for young players to grow, compete, and succeed—both on and off the field. Congratulations to all our finalists, and best of luck to BW Gottschee as they move on to represent Eastern New York on the regional stage.
