CJSL Partners with Queens College Men’s Soccer to Launch Intramural Beginner Soccer

The Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League (CJSL), the nation’s oldest youth soccer league, is proud to announce a new partnership with Queens College Men’s Soccer – Knights FC – to launch an intramural soccer program for boys and girls ages 4–7, beginning this fall.

Taking place on Sundays afternoons at Queens College, the program offers young athletes a fun, supportive entry point into the world of soccer. Designed for beginner to intermediate players, each session includes warm-ups, skill-building stations, small-sided games, and showcase scrimmages led by Queens College coaches and student-athletes. The focus is on building foundational skills, encouraging sportsmanship, and fostering a love for the game in a positive, inclusive environment.

This intramural program also serves as the ideal first step on the CJSL development pathway—preparing players for future participation in the CJSL 4v4 developmental league. The 4v4 league, which begins at U7, provides a structured, game-focused next phase where players continue to grow through regular competition, teamwork, and guided coaching.

“CJSL is proud to support this new intramural initiative at Queens College,” said Dimitrie Draguca, CJSL League Director. “It’s an opportunity to give our youngest players a fun first step into soccer while connecting them with role models at the collegiate level. Programs like this build not just skills, but confidence, friendships, and a lifelong love of the game.”

By launching this program in collaboration with Queens College—a well-respected NCAA Division II institution—CJSL continues to deliver on its mission to provide developmentally appropriate soccer pathways from the earliest ages through high-level youth competition. It’s part of a broader commitment to building opportunities for players to grow and thrive at every level.

Head Coach Frank Vertullo of Queens College Men’s Soccer added: “We are excited to welcome families from CJSL and the Queens community to our campus. Our goal is to create a safe, fun, and engaging soccer environment for kids, while also giving our college players the chance to inspire the next generation.”

The Queens College Men’s Soccer program, a proud member of the East Coast Conference, has a tradition of developing student-athletes who excel on the field and in the classroom. With a strong commitment to teamwork, discipline, and community engagement, the Knights are dedicated to preparing their players for success in both sport and life—and serving as role models for youth throughout the borough and beyond.

Together, CJSL and Queens College are laying the foundation for future success—starting with our youngest players and building a bridge to lifelong participation in the sport.
