NYC Talent Shines at CJSL x SportsMate360 European Soccer Tryouts
On Saturday, July 12, the Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League (CJSL), in partnership with SportsMate360 and Stomil Olsztyn S.A., hosted a dynamic European Soccer Tryout at Queens College Soccer Field — and New York City’s top players answered the call.
Four 11v11 teams competed in a round-robin format, allowing every player meaningful minutes to showcase their skill, intelligence, and readiness in a full-match setting. The level of play exceeded expectations with players coming from all the major leagues in the New York City area, with standout performances from players currently competing in MLS Next and CJSL club teams.
“We saw real hunger and quality on the field,” said Gregor Nawrath, CEO of SportsMate360. “This is why we come to New York — there’s raw talent here that deserves a bigger stage. Our team is reviewing footage and player evaluations now, and we’ll be inviting several players to Poland to train at our academy on scholarship.”
SportsMate360 confirmed that, following evaluations, selected players from the tryout will be invited to Poland to train with their elite academy, where they will be immersed in a professional European football environment. The program includes matches against top Polish and German teams, with opportunities for further advancement through SportsMate360’s extensive club network.
The New York tryout builds on SportsMate360’s growing presence in the U.S. soccer scene. From their December 2024 showcase, one standout was offered a spot and is flying to Poland this summer to begin training — a model CJSL sees as the future for its players.
“Our mission at CJSL is to open real doors, not manufactured pipelines,” said Paul Kontonis, President of CJSL. “This tryout showed what’s possible when opportunity meets preparationfor players in our league that stood tall as the best players.”
As the CJSL continues to fight for authentic player development and global pathways, events like this reinforce a simple truth: New York City doesn’t just have potential — it has players ready right now.
