All CJSL teams must build their official team rosters using the GotSport Roster Builder system. The rules below outline how players may appear on rosters and the requirements clubs must follow to remain roster compliant.
Primary Player Requirement
- If you wish to add that same player to another team within your club (same age group or playing up), the player must be added as a Dual player through Roster Builder.
- Clubs may alternatively use the Club Pass feature to allow a Primary player to appear on another team’s Match Day Card within the same club without officially adding them to that team’s roster as Dual.
Dual Roster vs Club Pass
| Option | Usage | Official Roster Change? | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dual Roster | Used when adding a player to another team within your club or to a team in a different league | Yes | Long-term dual team participation |
| Club Pass | Used to place a Primary player on another team’s Match Day Card within the same club | No | Short-term, playing up, or helping another team |
Multi-Club Player Registration
- Clubs may use the Dual roster option when a player is registered with another club in a different league as Primary.
- A player may be Primary with one club and Dual with another, as long as those two clubs are not in the same league.
- Players cannot be registered—either as Primary or Dual—with more than one club in the same league.
- A player may only be registered with multiple clubs if each club participates in different leagues.
| Player Name | Club | League | Team Level of Play | Registration Type | Allowed? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Leo Messi | SUSA | EDP North Atlantic | Premier | Primary | Yes |
| Leo Messi | LISC | EDP North Atlantic | Premier | Primary or Dual | No |
| Leo Messi | Soccer Kids NYC | CJSL | Travel | Primary or Dual | Yes |

- Are of the correct age or younger (maximum two years younger)
Accepted Proof of Eligibility
- Physical laminated player cards with photo from the team the player is coming from
- A copy of the team roster, with the guest player’s name clearly circled
Guesting Up or Down by Level
Examples:
- A D1-A player cannot play for a D2-B or D3-C team
- A D2-B player can go up to D1-A but not down to D3-C
- A D3-C player can play up for D2-B or D1-A
Players from the same club, playing on two different teams in the same division and level, are not permitted to guest for the second team.
Dual Player Registration Clarification
- Players cannot be dual registered on two CJSL clubs that are both playing in CJSL.
- A player can be dual registered if one team plays in a higher-level league such as EDP.
Example:
If Team A (CJSL team) is playing in CJSL and Team B (also a CJSL team) is playing in EDP, a player may be registered to both teams. However, for State Cup, the player must choose one team only—they may not compete for both.
Player Documentation Requirements
- Only Club Admins should upload player photos and proof of birth documents into GotSport. Parents should not handle this process.
- Always use the parent or legal guardian’s email on the player profile. Do not use a club or personal email.
- Player photos must be clear headshots only—no full-body images or group photos.
- The player’s full name listed on the team roster must exactly match the name on their proof of birth document.
- All players are required to have a birth certificate and a photo uploaded in GotSport.
- If a player’s proof of birth was previously approved in GotSport, it does not need to be resubmitted or reapproved.
Coach & Staff Requirements
- Team rosters must include at least one coach or manager who has completed all four required items:
- Background Check
- SafeSport Training
- Heads Up Concussion Training
- Coaching Certification
- Coach approval is handled automatically in the GotSport system once all Safe Sport requirements are fulfilled.
- For any issues related to coach eligibility or requirements, please contact ENYYSA directly. CJSL does not approve coaches.
- For issues, contact ENYYSA: Diana@enysoccer.com
Team Level & Player Level Settings
- For teams participating in CJSL, both Team Level and Player Level must be set to ENYYSA TRAVEL with USYS affiliation.
- For teams playing in NAL, NEAL, or EDP, both Team Level and Player Level must be set to ENYYSA PREMIER with USYS affiliation.
- When building rosters using the Roster Builder, ensure that each team is rostered under the correct carding event.
- Each roster must include at least one coach or manager who has completed all Safe Sport requirements.
